Aims
The purpose of this course is to instruct personnel on how to manual handle loads more safely, and how to reduce the risk of manual handling injuries.
Outcomes
Participants will be able to:
Incident statistics
Company HSE MANAGEMENT System and HSE Policy
Hazardous conditions and acts pertaining to manual handling operations
Controls to reduce the risks, including PTW, PAKAT, etc.
Common injuries
Back pain and how the back (spine) works
How injuries to muscles, tendons, and ligaments occur from manual handling
Operations and problem areas
The 5 factors in assessing the risk form manual handling
Mechanical help
The basic lighting techniques
manual handling techniques to reduce the risk in some situations
Basic knowledge of chemical handling and importance of PPE
