MH-3 Offshore Crane Refresher for Up to 5 Ton Capacity and Offshore Cranes Over 5 Ton Capacity



Aims
This course is aimed at employees who are required to operate offshore cranes in accordance with BSP’s lifting and hoisting standard (BSP-ASS-Standard-004) and industry best practices. It is also designed to refresh and update current qualified personnel on any changes in safety and operational procedures. On successful completion of this training course, participants will have gained the necessary knowledge and skills required to carry out safe lifting operations in an offshore environment.
Outcomes
  1. Be able to list and explain the key HSE requirements specific to lifting operations
  2. Have a knowledge of the Company HSE policy
  3. Have knowledge of how to carry out hazard identification and assessment of controls needed to execute the lifting operation
  4. Have knowledge of the need for Permit to Work required
  5. Have knowledge of the 10 questions for a safe lift
  6. Have basic knowledge of PAKAT
  7. Have basic knowledge of chemical handling & load handling
  8. Undertake pre-start, pre-operation, start-up, operational and shut down checks as per manufacturer and BSP requirements
  9. Gain an understanding of crane stability principles in an offshore environment
  10. Gain knowledge of different crane types and their limitations and characteristics used on offshore facilities.
  11. Recognise the roles and responsibilities of person involved with a lift
  12. Be able to communicate effectively with banksman – hand signals and radio
  13. Gain an understanding and be able to assist in the development of lift plans – simple to complex
  14. Undertake risk assessments of offshore lifting operations - ALARP
  15. Recognise critical aspects of offshore lifting, environmental conditions – swell, wind etc
  16. Be able to plan for multi crane lifts including calculations, sling placement associated hazards.
  17. Be able to identify/calculate the weight and centre of gravity of loads including rigging gear
  18. Look at case studies and video’s of poor or lack of planning when lifting
  19. Be able to demonstrate the safe approach to lifting and operation of an offshore crane
Assessment:
  • Written questionnaire
  • Load and sling calculation revision
  • Multi crane lift calculations
  • Check and safely operate offshore crane and lift different shaped, types of lifts in an offshore environment – dynamic, static and blind lifts
Location and Duration
The duration of the course is 3-day. The course is delivered at Megamas Training Company Sdn. Bhd., in Mumong/Kuala Balai, Kuala Belait or any other suitable location.
