STCW ’95 Personal Safety Techniques
Aims
To ensure that on completion of the course the candidate will meet the minimum standard of competence to survive at sea in the event of ship abandonment in accordance with A-VI/1-1 of the STCW Code.
Outcomes
Understand types of emergency situations such as collisions, fire, foundering
Demonstrate knowledge of the types of life-saving appliances normally carried on ships.
Know and operate equipment contained in survival craft
Understand the principles concerning survival
Describe the value of training and drills
Demonstrate correct use of personal protective clothing and equipment
Maintain a state readiness for any emergency
Demonstrate knowledge of actions to be taken when called to survival craft stations and to abandon ship
Describe the actions to be taken when in the water and when aboard a survival craft
Understand the main dangers to survivors
Location and Duration
The duration of the course is 2-days The course is delivered at Megamas Training Company Sdn. Bhd., in Mumong/Kuala Balai, Kuala Belait.
