Aims To ensure that on completion of the course the candidate will meet the minimum standard of competence to survive at sea in the event of ship abandonment in accordance with International Maritime Organisation (IMO) STCW’95 code A-VI/1-1. This is an Internationally recognised course, approved by the Brunei Department of Marine
Outcomes
  • Understand the types of emergency situations such as collisions, fire and foundering
  • Demonstrate knowledge of the types of lifesaving appliances normally carried onboard ships.
  • Know an operate equipment contained in the survival craft/Lifeboats and Life rafts
  • Understand the principles concerning survival
  • Describe the value of training and drills
  • Demonstrate the correct use of personnel protective clothing and equipment
  • Maintain a state of readiness for any emergency.
  • Demonstrate knowledge of the actions to be taken when called to survival craft stations and what to do in an abandon ship situation.
  • Describe and demonstrate the actions to be taken when in water and when aboard a survival craft.
  • Understand the main dangers of short and long-term water immersion.
  • The above course content can be tailored to suit client specific requirements, but not reduced, due to the International standard required
Location and Duration The duration of the course is Two (2)-days The course is delivered at Megamas Training Company Sdn. Bhd., in Mumong/Kuala Balai, Kuala Belait. Using classroom facilities and the Megamas Environmental pool, including wave generator
