STCW ’95 Tanker Familiarisation
Aims
To ensure that at completion of the Course the candidate will meet the minimum standard of competence in order to undertake duties on tankers in accordance with Regulation V/I paragraph 1.2 of STCW 1995.
Outcomes
Demonstrate a knowledge of safe handling of tanker cargoes including those of a dangerous, hazardous and/or harmful nature and their effect upon the safety of both the ship and life on board it by understanding;
Use of Cargo Safety Date Sheets
Methods of controlling hazards on tankers
Demonstrate a basic working knowledge of relevant IMO conventions applicable to tankers concerning safety at sea;
Development of tankers
Types of cargoes
Tanker terminology
Rules and Regulations
Operate cargo pumping systems and associated control systems
General cargo handling equipment on board oil, chemical and liquefied gas tankers
General awareness of safe cargo operational procedures on tankers
Location and Duration
The duration of the course is 5-days The course is delivered at Megamas Training Company Sdn. Bhd., in Mumong/Kuala Balai, Kuala Belait.
