FA-6 Caring for Kids - St. John Ambulance, Australia Approved



Aims
To give participants the skills and knowledge needed to be competent in child/baby resuscitation and the management of first aid until medical aid arrives.
Outcomes
  • Describe principles of first aid
  • Place a casualty in the recovery position (demonstration and practice)
  • Understand the respiratory system
  • Apply Expired Air Resuscitation EAR (child) (demonstration & practice)
  • Understand the circulatory system
  • Apply Cardio Pulmonary Resuscitation CPR (child & infant) (demonstration & practice)
  • Understand conditions affecting consciousness
  • Control bleeding (demonstration & practice)
  • Understand the skeletal system
  • Identify and treat fractures (demonstration & practice)
  • Identify and treat burns, poisons, bites & stings
  • Identify acute illnesses
Location and Duration
The duration of the course is 10 hours (2 x 5 hrs session). The course is delivered at Megamas Training Company Sdn. Bhd., in Mumong/Kuala Balai, Kuala Belait or Megamas Kiulap.
