MH-8 Rigging and Slinging
Aims
This course is designed to give participants the necessary skills and knowledge to undertake slinging and rigging duties on BSP onshore and offshore facilities. Strong emphasis is on the Brunei Shell P.L.I.C. The course will also refresh and update participants in the most recent updates in procedures and safety.

Explained the Shell and Government Laws and Regulations
Use of correct PPE
To inform participants on relevant roles in a lifting operation
Risk assessment and Lift Plans
Safe Working Practices
Explained the safe use of Rigging and Lifting Equipment
Identify Lifting Rigging Equipment
Inspect Lifting Rigging Equipment
Lifting equipment storage and maintenance
Calculations including determining the weight of loads & sling angle factors, SWL.
Selecting the correct lifting tackle for the task
Sling varied loads, identifying centre of gravity of a load
Sling varied loads of different shapes and sizes using Chain Blocks, Leaver Hoist and Turphor Jack
Practically demonstrate hand signals.
Be confident in the uses of hand held radio to communicate with the crane, other Rigger and Banksman
Correctly direct and place loads to different levels – simulating real work conditions.
Know how to tie varied knots, i.e. Clove Hitch, Bowline
Location and Duration
The duration of the course is 5-days. The course is delivered at Megamas Training Company Sdn. Bhd., in Mumong/Kuala Balai, Kuala Belait or any other suitable location.
