Ports Department Personnel Undergo Maritime Training

Fifteen personnel from the Ports Department Brunei recently attended a five-day course on "Proficiency. Survival Craft and Rescue Boat other than Fast Rescue Boat (PSC) Training" at Megamas Training Company Sdn Bhd in Mumong.

This course was aimed at providing personnel the training so as to meet the mandatory minimum requirements as specified in the International Convention on Standards of Training, Certification and Watchkeeping for Seafarers (STCW) 1978, as amended in 1995.

At the end of the course the participants learnt to operate life-saving appliances, operate a survival craft during or after the launch, including abandoning ship, apply first aid to survivors, as well as how to ensure good communication and signalling apparatus and pyrotechnics.
