THE SEF (Sport Endurance Fitness) team received a major boost for the upcoming Standard Chartered Singapore Marathon 2010 in the form of a sponsorship from Megamas Training Company Sdn Bhd.
For their upcoming stint on December 5, the company has sponsored shirts for the twenty runners that will compete in the competition. They will also cover travel expenses and accommodation.
"I want to thank the sponsors for their support in the development of the sport. This will be a strong boost to the team," said SEF coach Sefli Ahar.
"This is the first time Brunei will send such a (large) number of participants.
"It will also be the first competition for most of the runners, therefore for now we want to start by breaking our personal records first," added the 36-year-old.
Brunei's half-marathon king also commented on how much interest the sport has garnered throughout the years.
When it first started in April 2006, the team only had eight members.
However four years later, they now have around 40 active runners bearing the team name.
The marathon runners will compete in three events the full marathon (42 kilometres), the half-marathon (21km) and the 10km run.
The Sultanate's runners is scheduled to depart Brunei for Singapore on December 3.
