Last week a group of fifteen Senior Staff from DST Sdn Bhd attended the IOSH Managing Safely Course. The course was run by Megamas Training Company Sdn Bhd.

|  Megamas Training Company has contributed 500 trees to the Kerangas Forest in the Badas Triangle. The contribution will help to rehabilitate the forest area and also offsets some of the carbon emissions that Megamas produce. The project at Badas is part of the ISB Million Trees Project.

During a recent ceremony held at the Megamas Training Company, Mohd Roger Ainsworth received a special
company award, which was presented by the Principal of
Jefri Bolkiah College of Engineering, Cikgu Alias bin Haji Abu Bakar.
In his 10 years of service, Mohd Roger Ainsworth has expertly navigated
the future of the company into one of the current leading training
providers in Southeast Asia. During this period, the establishment has
accomplished numerous achievements, which include being the first to
deliver the OPITO TBOSIET in the world and the NEBOSH IGC in South East
Asia.

| Another group of delegates successfully took the IOSH Managing Safely course in the Megamas Training Centre in Kiulap. The course is becoming increasingly popular in the Bandar. The benefits of a high standard of HSE management can't be underestimated. Good HSE management protects workers, visitors, company reputation and company assets.

Megamas and and Brunei Shell Petroleum (BSP) Company Sdn Bhd signed an extension contract for the Offshore Survival (4+4 years) and Health, Safety and Environment, Permit to work and Defensive Driving Contracts ( 2+2 years).
Present to sign the contract was Megamas' Managing Director, Hjh Khadijah CA Mohamed and BSP's Head of HSE and Security, Hj Mohd Soffian Hj Omar.
Megamas has been a leading training provider for BSP for many years, and the extension of the contract will provide the foundation for continued cooperation between both parties for the future in offshore and HSE training. Click the link to read the full article

16 delegates from MINDEF and the Royal Brunei Armed Forces attended Managing Safely course at Megamas in Kiulap. Upon successful completion of the exam and project, delegates will be awarded with an internationally recognised IOSH certificate.

notification of winning an International Safety Award for 2008 from the
British Safety Council.
This is a great achievement especially as Megamas has now achieved
this award for a total of five consecutive years from 2004 - 2008.

sponsored a two-day Defensive Driving Course for four staff from
SMARTER and BACA, as part of the company’s social obligation to support
SMARTER in nurturing and caring for the welfare of individuals with
autism in Brunei.

Twenty-Five participants from the Ministry of Defence and the Royal Brunei Armed Forces completed an Occupational Health and Safety (OHS) Course. The course was run at the Training Institute at the Penanjong Garrison.
The course covered the principles of Health and Safety Management and led into advanced knowledge about the new OHS Management System that will shortly be introduced in MINDEF / RBAF. The course combined theory with practical. Participants completed risk assessment projects, performed an OHS "intervention" using a Hazard Observation Card and later carried out a safety inspection of a large workshop. Another IOSH Managing Safely course was held at Megamas Training Company. The participants enjoyed the course and learned about the benefits of managing safely and the techniques for risk assessment.
Candidate feedback was excellent. The IOSH course materials which includes animations, quizzes and activities are proving very popular with partipants of the course.

MEGAMAS TRAINING COMPANY Sdn Bhd yesterday celebrated an outstanding achievement of 19 consecutive years without any Loss Time Injury (LTI). The meeting was attended by guest of honour Hj Mohd Soffian Hj Omar, Head of HSE at BSP Sdn Bhd who handed over the safety plaque for '19 years without a Loss Time Injury' to Hjh Khadijah Hj Mohamed, Managing Director of Megamas Training Company Sdn Bhd.
Meanwhile, David Doig the Chief Executive of OPITO showed his recognition of this important safety milestone - "Fantastic result to you all, very well done and OPITO is proud of its association with Megamas."

Twenty five delegates from the Ministry of Defence and the Royal Brunei Armed Forces completed the professional development course called "train the trainer".
The course enables the participants to teach others effectively. The course combines theory with practical. Each delegate is required to make a final presentation to the class. Mr Apau the course leader said, "the quality of the final presentations were outstanding" For more information:

Six Prime Minister Office (Jabatan Perdana Menteri) professional drivers and one Assistant Supervisor have completed the 2-days Defensive Driving training held in Megamas Training Company Sdn Bhd in Kuala Belait. It was the first time that the training was conducted for government professional drivers.
During the 2-days training, candidates were taught the importance to drive safely, different way on how to reduce chances of a road accident and evasive action taken during an adverse driving condition.
The diverse background and experience of the candidates made the training enjoyable and interesting with lively discussions and participations. | |

Twelve Candidates completed the IOSH course at our Kiulap training centre. It is the 6th IOSH course to be run by Megamas and the 2nd IOSH course to be run in Bandar.
The candidates have completed the exam and are now working on their project. Successful completion of both the exam and project enables the candidate to pass the IOSH Managing Safely course. Candidate feedback was positive and stated the course provided them with enhance knowledge and skills to manage safety in their workplace.

Twelve delegates from a number of Brunei-based organisations attended the Internationally recognised IOSH Managing Safely course. It was the first IOSH course to be run in Bandar, at the new Megamas Training Centre in Kiulap.
The course provides delegates with the ability to tackle health & safety issues in the workplace through the application of recognised management principles. This highly regarded level of accreditation is widely recognised as a high level of attainment in health & safety.

In 1999 BSP and Megamas jointly developed a ‘new’ standard called the Warm Water BOSIET, and this standard, on completion, was given to OPITO for their approval. Subsequently, OPITO approved the standard, and the term applied to the standard was ‘Warm Water BOSIET’, a ‘custom award’ to Megamas endorsed by industry.
Since its introduction in 2000 in Brunei Darussalam, the number of regional OPITO approved training centres has grown considerably, and today, it is delivered worldwide in 13 countries.
