Oil Spill Response – IMO Level 2
Aims
The IMO Level 2 Course focuses on the operational management of an oil spill. It is directed at the On-Scene Commander and supports him/her in co-ordinating and managing a response.
Outcomes
Participants will be able to:
Understand the fate and effects of spilt oil
Detail the information requirements for Spill Assessment
Co-ordinate response operations
Demonstrate the knowledge necessary to deploy the correct tools & techniques for Containment, Diverting and Recovery of Oil
Understand In-Situ burning
Understand Dispersant Application and response Considerations
Co-ordinate the waste management techniques for remaining oil residues
Organise evidence gathering and documentation requirements
Understand Liability and Compensation
Carry out contingency planning, response management and organization
Co-ordinate Response Deactivation
Demonstrate knowledge of Post Incident Debriefing requirements
Location and Duration
The duration of the course is 5 days. The course is delivered at Megamas Training Company Integrated safety training Centre in Mumong/Kuala Balai, Kuala Belait.
