The Deputy Minister of Development, Dato Padaka Dr. Awang Haji Mat Suny Bin Haji Md. Hussein attends a Special Presentation Ceremony to give out the certificates for NEBOSH and IOSH courses.
The Special Presentation Ceremony took place on the 29th August to give
out the certificates for both the NEBOSH and IOSH courses.
It was a prestigious occasion as it was the first ever presentation for
the IOSH International Managing Safely course held in S-E Asia.
NEBOSH is the National Examination Board for Occupational Safety and
Health which is responsible for setting the examinations for entry to
the Institution of Occupational Safety and Health (IOSH). IOSH is
Europe’s leading professional body for health and safety practitioners.
To date, Megamas has conducted 5 NEBOSH International Certificate
Courses since the original course back in December 2004. Ninety-Three
persons have now been trained in Occupational Safety and Health, and,
as a result, have a better knowledge to perform their duties more
effectively.
Megamas is an IOSH Centre. It is a notable achievement because of the
difficulties faced in gaining IOSH approval. Megamas has achieved this
through having ISO 9001:2000 in place, by being a reputable BSP
contractor, and in recent years, gained international recognition with
safety awards from the British Safety Council.
In addition, Megamas is an OPITO centre, the only private Edexcel/BTEC
centre in S-E Asia, and STCW’95 recognised for maritime training.
Part of our continued commitment to the Nation is to introduce
recognised international qualifications to assist in the development of
HSE Management systems for companies operating in Brunei.
Megamas strives to become the National Centre in Brunei for
Occupational Safety and Health, and in the future, Megamas hopes to
create the first Institution for Occupational Safety and Health in
Brunei Darussalam.
In this respect, Megamas is forging new links with the Brunei
Government departments and assist them in any way possible. To support
this idea, Megamas will soon open a new office in Bandar Seri Begawan.
To conclude, Megamas thanks the Ministry of Development and MINDEF on
behalf of the Directors, Management, and staff of Megamas for using our
services and we hope that this is only the beginning of a relationship
which will grow stronger and thus enhance better practices regarding
the standards of Occupational Safety and Health in Brunei Darussalam.
