STCW ’95 Elementary First Aid

Aims

On completion of the course the candidate will meet the minimum standard of competence in giving appropriate / immediate or management action upon encountering an accident or other medical emergency in accordance with A-V/1-3 of the STCW Code.

Outcomes

Assess the needs of causalities and threats to own safety
Understand and appreciate body structure and functions
Demonstrate the ability to correctly position casualty
Apply resuscitation techniques effectively and confidently
Apply various techniques in controlling bleeding
Apply appropriate measures of basic shock management
Demonstrate knowledge necessary to apply appropriate measure in the event of burns and scalds, including accidents caused by electrical current
Rescue and transport a casualty
Improvise bandages and use materials in emergency kit

Location and Duration

The duration of the course is 1-day. The course is delivered at Megamas Training Company Sdn. Bhd., in Mumong/Kuala Balai, Kuala Belait.
