MH-9 Loading and Lashing

Aims

To provide participants with the necessary skills and knowledge to safely and efficiently load a vehicle in accordance with current road use regulations. Participants will be able to correctly load & restrain a vehicle load. This course is designed for vehicle loading crane operators, truck drivers, transport workers and anyone else who loads a vehicle as part of their vocation.

Content

Be aware and use of correct PPE
Current legislation and BSP standards, hazard identification & control and risk assessment
Prepare and make safe the loading area
Prepare cargo for loading
Choose suitable vehicle for specific loads
Correct and safe positioning of loads including various stell, concrete, loose materials and pallets
Select suitable load restraint and blocking equipment for different types of loads
Gain an understanding of Centre of Gravity, Tie down forces and angle effects.
Undertake careful driving and conduct restraint/lashing checks

MH-18 Telehandler Operator

Aims

To provide participants who have completed an approved Introduction to Rigging and Slinging course with the necessary skills and knowledge to operate a telehandler safely and efficiently in accordance with the Brunei Shell P.L.I.C. The course also refreshes and updates participants with any changes in safety and operational procedures.

Content

Be aware and use of correct PPE
Be able to undertake pre-start and pre-operational checks of a telehandler
Understand the tagging, recording and reporting procedure
Be able to read and understand data/compliance plates
Have an understanding of telehandler stability, capacity and dynamics
Demonstrate and understand stability alarms and all other warning devices
Understand the safe operation of a telehandler in different work environments includingon-shore and off-shore facilities
Be able to check and identify for hazards and control where possible - `KNOW YOUR WORKPLACE’
Be able to barricade and ensure non-essential personnel are not permitted to enter work area
Be able to maneuver and shift various loads safely and efficiently
Use all boom operations safely, efficiently and confidently
Conduct post operational checks and shut down procedures.

MH-17 Excavator Operator

Aims

To provide participants who have completed an approved Introduction to Rigging and Slinging course with the necessary skills and knowledge to operate an excavator safely and efficiently in accordance with the Brunei Shell P.L.I.C. The course also refreshes and updates participants with any changes in safety and operational procedures.

Content

Be aware and use of correct PPE
Be able to undertake pre-start and pre-operational checks of an excavator in accordance with manufacturer’s instructions
Be able to undertake scheduled cleaning and operator maintenance in accordance with manufacturer’s instructions
Understand the tagging, recording and reporting procedure in the event of a fault or breakdown
Demonstrate and understand the principles of lifting dynamics (centre of gravity and stability) in relation to BSP procedures and according to pertinent loads.
Be able to read and understand data/compliance plates, load indicators, SWL principles.
Demonstrate and understand all warning devices and alarms
Understand the safe operation of an excavator in different work environments including on-shore and off-shore facilities
Be able to check and identify for hazards and control where possible - `KNOW YOUR WORKPLACE’ – ground condition, underground, excavations
Be able to barricade and ensure non-essential personnel and plant are not permitted to enter work area
Gain an understanding of load characteristics, soil types, load mass and correct loading techniques.
Demonstrate all movements
Demonstrate excavator operation techniques – trenching, backfilling, battering, in muddy conditions, lifting loads, mobiling loads
Use different attachements
Operation in restricted/confined space and recognize blind spots
Drive on and off low loader.
Conduct post operational checks and shut down procedures.

MH-16 Access Platform Operator

Aims

To provide participants who have completed an approved Introduction to Rigging and Slinging course with the necessary skills and knowledge to operate an Access Platform safely and efficiently in accordance with the Brunei Shell P.L.I.C. The course also provides an update on any changes in safety and operational procedures.

Content

Be aware and use of correct PPE
Plan and prepare for work in an access platform
Understand the hazards associated with operation
Understand the principles of stability in relation to access platforms
Operate platform in accordance with manufacturer’s instructions and in accordance with BSP-ASS-S-004
Read and understand all warning signs and decals – electrical hazards, tipping and crushing hazards.
Carry out pre-start, pre-operational checks
Complete log books, risk assessments and other reporting
Safely set up access platform – (with and without outriggers)
Explain and demonstrate emergency descent and controlled descent device operation-how and when to use.
Demonstrate all boom movements and drive platform competently and confidently avoiding hazards – ground conditions, angles, obstructions
Inspect and correctly wear and fit fall arrest harness
Gain an understanding of suspension trauma, rescue and first aid
