MEGAMAS Training Company Sendirian Berhad based in Mumong / Kuala Balai, Kuala Belait recently presented the Best Pakat of the Month and Employee of the Month Award in recognition of the diligence and good performance of its staff.

Best Pakat for May was awarded to Wanie @ Syazwani Metarsad who received a token of appreciation.

According to Mohd Roger Ainsworth, Megamas Executive Adviser, “the PAKAT is one of the key aspects of improving safety in the workplace.”

Pakat is a Malay word meaning discuss, confer, agree, consent. Discussion and agreement are the keys to the Pakat process, according to a press release.

Mohd Roger added “it is really important to create a safe working environment for all, and intervene when observing unsafe acts or behaviour such as not wearing eye protection during grinding and driving without fastening seat belt.

To help achieve this, the Pakat is a tool used to identify hazardous acts, behaviour and conditions, change attitudes and mindset, and also recognise positive situation (safe condition).

It is showing concern for the safety of the staff in a friendly and helpful manner. It is not checking up on people and writing down names of offenders.
