Megamas Training Company Sdn Bhd based in Kuala Balai, Mumong, recently awarded Certificates of Appreciation to two of their local staff, Pg Mohd Azman Pg Tajuddin and Abang Jaludin Abang Md Noor for becoming the first Bruneians ever approved by Brunei Shell Petroleum (BSP) Company Sdn Bhd to deliver material handling courses, Rigging/Slinging, Banksman, etc.

The certificates were presented to them by Yang Mulia Dato Paduka Hj Awang Alaihuddin Bin Pehin Orang Kaya DiGadong Seri Laila Dato Seri Utama Hj Awang Mohd Taha (Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Communications) at a recent ceremony during which the Brunei Driving School Instructors received certificates of competency following a 5-day comprehensive defensive driving programme including a 1-day session on presentation skills.

Hjh Khadijah Mohamed (Managing Director, Megamas) told the audience of the significance of this recognition, the first Bruneians in 17 years to deliver these courses, confirming that given the opportunity, right terms and conditions of employment, Bruneians at Megamas can provide training to the highest possible standards.

She continued that a policy of recruiting local Bruneian citizens has always been a priority at Megamas, and added, “we have sent our Bruneians overseas for training and development and given them every opportunity to expand their career prospects”.

Todate, Megamas employs 85% of its staff as local Bruneian citizens.

Mohd Roger Ainsworth (General Manager, Megamas) has been a supporter of Bruneisation for many years, and believes that this policy is the future for the company, in line with the aspirations of the Nation.

Mohd Roger complimented all the local staff, by saying, “many of our Bruneian instructors have received international recognition from bodies, like, OPITO, St John’s Ambulance, and the British Safety Council.  There has also been a continuity of staff remaining loyal to the company for many years, many of whom, have 10 years or longer with Megamas, which has created a family atmosphere giving the participants a feeling of security in the knowledge that the courses are delivered to the highest quality and in a safe environment”.
