June 2014 marks another prestigious milestone in the 25-year history of Megamas Training Company Sdn Bhd with the award of a License for Construction Industry Training Board (CITB) scaffolding courses, the national training organisation for construction in the United Kingdom.
The CITB scaffolding erection and inspection courses are recognised as the benchmark standard for all scaffolding work in Brunei Darussalam across all industries, both onshore and offshore, and the Energy Industry Competency Framework (EICF) Scaffolder Programme.
After a 20 day programme of inspection and auditing as well as an in-depth examination made by the CITB accrediting personnel, Megamas is now acknowledged to be able to run a range of scaffolding courses under the CITB banner which includes the Safe Erection and Dismantling of Scaffolds training suite (Part A, Part B) as well as the Safe Inspection of Scaffolds training suite (Standard and Complex).
The CITB personnel at Megamas were very impressed with the capabilities, knowledge and competence displayed by the Bruneian Scaffolding instructors, the centre’s atmosphere, and the training facilities. It was remarked that the level of competence of the instructors of Megamas often exceeded their expectations and a healthy rapport between both parties was present during the entire process due to the committed, professional and friendly atmosphere.
Megamas Operations Manager Michael Stringer said “we are delighted to have received confirmation of this award, these qualifications ensure a best practice level of knowledge and an internationally recognized career and competency path for scaffolders of all ages and abilities right here in Brunei”
The CITB Centre accreditation joins Megamas’ other accreditations by NEBOSH, LEEA, St John’s Ambulance, OPITO, CIEH, IOSH and RoSPA.
