Four local Bruneian staff working at Megamas Training Company Sdn Bhd, located in Mumong, Kuala Belait, recently received OPITO Assessor certificates having completed training and completion of their portfolios.

The staff members include Mohd Arif Chia Abdullah (Senior Instructor), and Mohd Massri Abdullah, Mas Moorzan Haji Jawawi and Mohd Qistishah Haji Mohd Shah (all Instructors), and now join other Senior Instructors at Megamas that have the same qualification or equivalent.

According to Haji Naweh (Megamas Training Manager), the company intends to send all the remaining assistant instructors to receive similar training.

Haji Naweh added that Megamas is always trying to provide HSE training to the appropriate standards, many, like OPITO, to an international level, and by having instructors suitably qualified to an acceptable level of competency, this can be ensured.  This also provides a consistency in the level of training.

Hajah Khadijah Mohamed (Managing Director) was very pleased with the instructors obtaining their certificates, since this is one of the objectives of the company to train and develop local Bruneians.

Hajah Khadijah also pointed out that it is good for them individually to get qualifications, and to continually strive to better themselves.  “Megamas has a good record of maintaining its local staff, nearly 40% have remained with the company for over 10 years.  In addition, Hajah remarked that having trainers well-qualified will also help to ensure we provide a safe place of work at Megamas, safe equipment, and safe systems of work, which, will in turn, help to maintain our very good safety record.
