Megamas celebrated yesterday the prestigious safety performance milestone of “23 Years Loss Time Injury (LTI) Free and “6 Years Total Recordable Cases (TRC) Free”.

To honour this occasion, Idris Mohammad Jaafar, Head of Health, Safety, Security and Environment of Brunei Shell Petroleum (BSP) Company Sdn Bhd presented a special safety plaque to Hjh Khadijah Mohamed (Managing Director of Megamas).

The General Manager, Roger Ainsworth, added that Megamas this year has also received International Safety Award from the British Safety Council in London. Megamas has received this award for 8 times between 2004-2012.

Megamas has also received recently the 2013 RoSPA Silver Award for Occupational Health and Safety.

These prestigious awards highlight Megamas achievement and commitment to raising the standards of health and safety management.

Roger went on to comment that “thinking about today, my mind goes back to 1999, I never thought that I would be standing here celebrating this achievement and all the other awards and accolades Megamas has been recognised for over this 13-14 year period.

The background to this success has to have been our goal, inspiration, persistence, and desire to always “do the right thing”.

I would like to congratulate everyone in Megamas for this outstanding achievement.

It cannot be done without the support of all staff. Megamas is blessed with employees who have shown tremendous loyalty over the years, and these awards, are for them.

While impressed by this outstanding achievement that we are recognizing today, it is also worth noting that underlying these awards, is the emphasis Megamas has taken each year in the pursuit of safety excellence, which we have tried to continually surpass, year after year, and by and large succeeded, thanks to everyone’s dedication and hard work.

Despite all these awards, and the knowledge that Megamas is a very safe business, we must NOT become complacent. We must continue to be vigilant at all times to ensure that workers safety is our first and foremost consideration and priority.

In conclusion, Mohd Roger expressed Megamas gratitude to Brunei Shell Joint Venture Companies, the Brunei Government, Brunei Economic Development Board (BEDB), Ministry of Defence (MINDEF), Jefri Bolkiah College of Engineering (JBCE) and all the BSP contractors.
