THE Youth Development Centre (YDC) yesterday witnessed the signing of the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between Megamas Training Company Sdn Bhd and nine private companies for providing work attachment to participants of the Heavy Vehicle Training Course, which is being held at YDC’s Ibnusina Hall.

Nineteen trainees are currently undergoing the five-month training which started on January 14 and is scheduled to end on June 30. Megamas acts as the consultant for the implementation of the five-month course.

The companies which signed the MoU are Syarikat MOC Sdn Bhd, Brunei Transportation Company (BTC) Sdn Bhd, Syarikat Razali Amat Sdn Bhd, Syarikat Readymix Sdn Bhd, Syarikat Yong Kiam Pin Sdn Bhd, Syarikat Slingmax Sdn Bhd, Syarikat Pengangkutan Tiga Muara Sdn Bhd, Syarikat PSK Logistik Sdn Bhd and Syarikat PHLS Sdn Bhd.

The programme includes Health, Safety and Environment (HSE) course, Basic First Aids Course, Defensive Driving, 4WD, Bus Driving and several other courses related to heavy vehicles.

In his welcoming remarks, Acting Assistant Director of YDC Haswandi bin Haji Othman highlighted that there has been encouraging response from the trainees to attend the programmes to become professional heavy machinery drivers.

A total of 45 trainees have successfully completed their training course so far, he said. Out of the 45 trainees, approximately 90 per cent have been employed in the related fields.

Awang Haswandi hoped that the selected trainees will take advantage of the opportunities provided and urged them to show high quality work, professionalism and disciplined throughout their training programme.

The MoU was signed by Haji Mahmud bin Haji Idris, Deputy General Manager of Megamas Training Company Sdn Bhd, with the representatives from the respective participating private companies.
